Water supply in the municipal areas of Nicosia is returning gradually but “will take some time” to be fully restored, Nicosia Water Board Director Nicos Zambakides told CNA on Saturday.
The supply of water was disrupted due to a problem technical teams encountered in the process of maintenance work at the Tersefanou pipeline which provides water to all Nicosia munipalities.
Zambakides told CNA that the problem has been fixed and that supply has already started and has been fully restored so far for all hospitals in Nicosia and their surrounding areas.
However, he added that it will take “some time” for supply to be fully restore in all the municipalities.
Replying to a question as to when supply will reach 100% he said he expects that will be achieved sometime on Sunday, adding however he cannot speak with absolute certainty. He explained that the supply of water must be gradual in order to ensure that no damage is caused to the water supply network.
