DEATH ANNOUNCEMENT
Andreas Panayi
(from Lympia, Cyprus)
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our beloved husband, father, grandfather Andreas Panayi, who passed away on the 22nd of July in Stratford-upon-Avon at the age of 72. He leaves behind his wife Rita and his five boys, Panos, Marios, Rothos, Dimitris, Lambros and four grandchildren. Andreas was born in Lympia in Cyprus and came to England as a young boy of 7 years old. He lived in London with his parents and brother Harry, until he met Rita whom he married and moved to Stratfordupon-Avon where they lived happily for 42years. They ran a fish and chip shop, the Kingfisher which became an institution in the town, not only because of Andy’s award-winning food but also because of his wonderful personality, great character and his unmistakably recognisable “stand out “moustache.
He was loved by everybody because he had a heart of gold and the temperament of a kind, sweet,
pious and cheerful human being. He always had time for everyone and a good word to say with a smile and humility. He was a devoted husband and father to Rita and his boys. His children and grandchildren were his world and his beloved Arsenal always engraved in his heart.
May he rest in peace forever asleep in the Lord. Amen The funeral service will take place at Holy Trinity and St. Luke Greek Orthodox Church in Erdington in Birmingham, on Thursday the 20th of August at 12 o’clock pm. It will be followed by a private burial at Stratford-upon-Avon cemetery.
Flowers are welcome but if you prefer to make a donation to the Brain Tumour charity and Kidney Research UK, these may be sent to A.E. Bennett and Sons at 34, Sheep Street, Stratford-upon-Avon, CV37 6EE. (cheques payable to A.E.Bennett and Sons Donations
