† DEATH ANNOUNCEMENT – FUNERAL
Maria (Maro) Sofocleous
(from Trikomo, Famagusta, Cyprus)
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our kind and loving mum and grandma Maria Sofocleous.
Maria (Maro) was born in Trikomo, Famagusta, Cyprus in 1941 and moved to the UK in 1958; where she lived in Southampton before moving to London.
Mum met our father Stavros in Brighton and got married in London in 1966.
Our mum was thoughtful, generous and always put others before herself.
Her presence will be greatly missed and never forgotten by all who had the privilege of knowing her. As we approach Easter, memories of being taken to St Marys Greek Orthodox Church as children and the aroma of her delicious flaounes will be remembered.
The greatest gift that she could have wished for was her grandson Joseph whom she adored and cherished.
She leaves behind her loving husband Stavros, son Sofoclis, daughters Androulla and Katerina and grandson Joseph.
May our mum rest in peace as she joins her family in heaven, her father Kyriacos (Kasioura), mother Katerina, brothers Taki, Demo and sisters Annou, Kalomira and Dimitra.
The funeral will take place on Friday 28th March 2025, at 12pm at St Marys Greek Orthodox Church, Trinity Road, Wood Green,London, N22 8LB.
The burial will follow, at 2pm, at New Southgate Cemetery, Brunswick Park Road,
London N11 1JJ.
Flowers are welcome.
Μαρία (Μάρω) Σοφοκλέους
Με βαθιά θλίψη ανακοινώνουμε τον θάνατο της ευγενικής και στοργικής μαμάς και γιαγιάς μας Μαρίας Σοφοκλέους.
Η Μαρία (Μάρω) γεννήθηκε στο Τρίκωμο, Αμμόχωστος, Κύπρος το 1941
και μετακόμισε στο Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο το 1958. όπου ζούσε στο Σαουθάμπτον πριν μετακομίσει στο Λονδίνο.
Η μαμά γνώρισε τον πατέρα μας Σταύρο στο Μπράιτον και παντρεύτηκε
στο Λονδίνο το 1966.
Η μαμά μας ήταν σκεπτόμενη, γενναιόδωρη και πάντα έβαζε τους άλλους πάνω από τον εαυτό της. Η παρουσία της θα λείψει πολύ και δεν θα ξεχαστεί ποτέ από όλους όσοι είχαν το προνόμιο να τη γνωρίσουν. Καθώς πλησιάζουμε το Πάσχα,
οι αναμνήσεις μας από τον Καθεδρικό ναό Κοιμήσεως της Θεοτόκου, ως παιδιά και το άρωμα των νόστιμων φλαούνων της θα μας την θυμίζουν έντονα. Το μεγαλύτερο δώρο που θα μπορούσε κάποιος να της δώσει ήταν ο εγγονός της Ιωσήφ τον οποίο λάτρευε και αγαπούσε.
Καταλείπει τον αγαπημένο της σύζυγο Σταύρο, τον γιο της Σοφοκλή,
τις κόρες της Ανδρούλλα και Κατερίνα και τον εγγονό της Ιωσήφ.
Είθε η μαμά μας να αναπαυθεί εν ειρήνη καθώς θα επανενωθεί με την οικογένειά της στον παράδεισο, τον πατέρα της Κυριάκο (Κασιούρα), τη μητέρα της Κατερίνα, τα αδέρφια της Τάκη και Δήμο και τις αδερφές της Αννού, Καλομοίρα και Δήμητρα.
Η κηδεία θα γίνει την Παρασκευή 28 Μαρτίου 2025, στις 12μμ από τον Καθεδρικό ναό Κοιμήσεως της Θεοτόκου Trinity Road, Wood Green, London, N22 8LB.
Η ταφή θα ακολουθήσει, στις 2μμ, στο κοιμητήριο New Southgate,,Brunswick Park Road, London N11 1JJ.
Τα λουλούδια είναι ευπρόσδεκτα.
