Free Weekend Christmas parking in Barnet

With the festival season nearly upon us, Barnet Council is offering free parking on its high-streets and car-parks during the three weekends leading up to Christmas.

Shoppers will be able to take advantage of free parking on 5 and 6 December, 12 and 13 December, and 19 and 20 December.

The free parking period coincides with The Spires Shopping Centre’s exciting new attraction. Santa’s Magic Post Office will be open from 5th December and Santa’s little helpers will be on hand to help children write letters to Jolly Saint Nick. The festive season will officially arrive at Cricklewood Town Centre on Friday 20 November with the annual Christmas Lights switch on. Visitors will be able to enjoy a wide variety of market stalls which offer wholesome street food, arts and crafts, musical entertainment and much more. The stalls are open from 11am. Shoppers can also enjoy the Christmas market at the Ten Grand Arcade, North Finchley, on 12 December, where they can visit stalls offering delicious festive food, arts and craft, face painting and carol singers. For more information visit http://www.mynorthfinchley.co.uk/.

Councillor Dean Cohen, Chairman of the Environment Committee, said: “This is an important time for our traders and residents across the borough, and I am happy that we are once again able to support them with this offer of free parking in the lead up to Christmas.

“I am particularly proud that the first day of the free parking period falls on the biggest day of the year for small businesses – Small Business Saturday on 5 December. As always, I am sure our high-streets will be buzzing with activity in the coming weeks and I want to wish everyone a happy shopping period.”
