A whale was sighted off the coast of Larnaca on Saturday, which appeared to be not in distress but possibly lost.
Video footage of the huge mammal, which appeared on state broadcaster CyBC, was recorded by Yiorgos Evripidou who was on a boat in the area at the time.
According to reports, Evripidou made the video and shared it with the public so that he could bring attention to the whale and encourage authorities to help make its way to cooler waters.
A whale sighting in Cyprus is very rare, as the Mediterranean water off the coast of the island is considered too warm and not suitable for their natural habitat.
