World Cup day eight

Day Eight of the World Cup threw up plenty of shock results, as two more nations booked their place in the round of 16.

Denmark & Australia kept their World Cup dreams alive with a 1-1 draw. Denmark took the lead through Christian Eriksen, whilst Mile Jedinak levelled up for Australia thanks to a VAR penalty.

Kylian Mpbappe became the youngest French player to score at a World Cup as Les Bleus edged out Peru 1-0. The win means that France is now through to the round of 16, whilst Peru is eliminated from the tournament.

Finally, in the game of the day, Croatia stunned Argentina 3-0 to book their place in the knockout phases. Ante Rebic pounced on an error from willy caballero to score a stunning volley, Luca Modric scored a sweet hit to seal the contest ten minutes from time. Before Ivan Rakatic scored from close range to complete the rout.

Argentina will now need a victory in their final game to have any chance of reaching the last 16.
