Police arrested a 46-year-old British man upon his arrival at Paphos Airport on Tuesday night after allegations from his former wife that he had been abusing his stepdaughter.
The complaint had been made to Paphos CID on January 28 during which the 39-year-old woman – who is a permanent resident in Cyprus – told investigators that between the months of May and August last year, the suspect had sexually abused her 12-year-old daughter from a previous marriage.
Police began searching for the 46-year-old man but he had already left the island. He was picked up at the airport on Tuesday night and is set to be taken before a Paphos magistrate on Wednesday where investigators will request to keep him in remand.
