Barnet Museum volunteers, whilst cataloguing and curating their collection found some items of archaeological interest which are more appropriate to the Museum of Cyprus. Barnet Museum therefore arranged through one of their volunteers, Constantine Antoniades, Dr Gillian Gear and the Cypriot authorities, to return these objects to Cyprus.
Councillor Lisa Rutter Former Mayor of the Borough of Barnet was delighted to be invited to this special ceremony on the 10th February 2015 for the hand over of these artefacts to Mr Stathis Raptou an archaeology expert from the Department of Antiquities, Museum of Cyprus who came specially from Cyprus.
It was also a pleasure before the ceremony to be shown around the Barnet Museum which has so much interesting history on 3 floors. Mr Raptou was very grateful for the tour of the museum which he found very interesting.
