The leaders of the two communities in Cyprus, namely President of the Republic Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglu, are meeting on Monday to continue discussions on confidence-building measures and the Technical Committees.
During their last meeting on July 4, the leaders agreed to jointly visit the anthropological laboratory of the Committee on Missing Persons.
They also engaged in a discussion on the substance of the negotiations and on methodology, and exchanged views and proposals on confidence-building measures and the Technical Committees.
Cyprus has been divided since 1974, when Turkey invaded and occupied its northern third. President Anastasiades and Eroglu are currently engaged in talks, aiming to reunify the country under a federal roof.
