The new Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus in Stockholm, Sotos Liasides, presented his credentials to King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden during an official ceremony held on Thursday in the Royal Palace of Stockholm.
According to a press release, at a special hearing that followed the credential ceremony, Liasides briefed the Swedish King on the latest developments on the Cyprus problem and the reasons which led to the failure of the Conference on Cyprus, in Switzerland.
Current issues of international and regional interest, as well as the economic, political and social life in Cyprus and Sweden were also discussed.
Cyprus’ new Ambassador conveyed to the King of Sweden the warm and cordial greetings of President of the Republic of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades.
Liasides further expressed his readiness to work in fostering Cyprus – Sweden bilateral relations and Cyprus-Sweden cooperation in the EU, the UN and other international fora.
