To recycle real Christmas trees, residents are asked to leave them next to their green bin on their next collection day – trees should be free of decorations and lights, and large trees should be broken in half where possible.
Alternatively, real Christmas trees can be taken to the Reuse and Recycling Centre on Summers Lane, N12 0RF where they are converted to compost.
Councillor Dean Cohen, Chairman of Barnet’s Environment Committee, added: “This is a great example of the council providing services to make our resident’s lives easier, whilst also reducing our environmental impact.”
Garden waste collections resume from Saturday 7th January 2017. Residents can find out when their next green bin collection is online.
