Eroglu: “We are striving to achieve a new partnership consisting of two equal states”

According to illegal Bayrak television (17.11.14) Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglu met with a delegation from the Society of Republic’s Women from the Salihli branch of Manisa, Turkey, who are illegally visiting the occupied area of Cyprus for the “celebrations” for the UDI.

Speaking during the meeting, Eroglu expressed pleasure over the visit of the delegation and added that they know that the people of Turkey were always by the side of the Turkish Cypriot “people”.

Briefing the women on the history of the Cyprus issue, Eroglu said that with the 20th of July “Turkish Peace operation”, as he called the Turkish invasion in Cyprus and the territory that went with it, they were able to establish their own “state”.

Referring to the Cyprus negotiations process, he stated that they were striving to achieve a new partnership that would consist of two equal states.

Pointing to the Greek Cypriot side’s “extensive demands”, Eroglu noted that if the Turkish Cypriot side had accepted everything the Greek Cypriot side wanted, there would be no place left for the Turkish Cypriots.

Claiming that currently there are “two peoples” in the island living side by side in peace, Eroglu alleged that peace had been achieved but an agreement was missing.

Describing the Turkish invasion on the island as a turning point for the Turkish Cypriot “people”, he went on to claim that today they are the owners of a “state” that has “infrastructure, universities, hotels and an economy”.
