Further arrest in connection with UK Cypriot’s death

Detectives from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit have made another arrest in connection with the death of a man from Potters Bar.

Today (Friday, January 30), a 41 year old man from Romford has been arrested as part of Operation Pinene, the investigation into the death of 41 year old UK Cypriot Milton Papadopoulos (below), who was found dead at his home address in Parkfield View on October 22.

Two other men also arrested in connection with the death remain on police bail:

  • The 42 year old man from Romford, who was arrested on December 14, remains on police bail until February 2.
  • The 36 year old man from Havering, who was arrested on December 12, remains on police bail until March 10.

A 45 year old man from Hoddesdon, who was arrested on November 29, will face no further action.

“We are continuing to follow a number of lines of inquiry in relation to the death of Milton and this latest arrest forms part of this,” explained Detective Inspector Justine Jenkins.

“We believe the circumstances surrounding the death are suspicious and we are very keen to hear from anyone who believes they have information about what may have happened. Any detail, however seemingly insignificant, may prove very useful to our investigation, so please don’t hesitate getting in contact, either directly or anonymously via Crimestoppers.”

Detectives are also still eager to hear from anyone who has information about a white Vauxhall Combo van which had no tax disc displayed and a ladder over the driver’s side which was seen in the area two days prior to the discovery of Milton’s body.

The van was displaying number plates that read T531 RFE but are known to be false. It is possible the van may have been parked locally in the Potters Bar area and the plates changed.

Chief Inspector for Hertsmere Tannis Perks said: “It is understandable that Milton’s death has caused some concern within the local community however, I would like to reassure his neighbours and the wider community that this was an isolated incident and that investigations remain a priority for the Major Crime team. My officers have been in contact with residents to address any concerns and should anybody wish to speak further, please call us via 101.”

Anyone with any information in relation to Milton’s death or who remembers seeing a van similar to the one pictured in the area during the stated time, should contact the Major Crime Unit’s incident room via 01707 355 666.
