Middlesex FA Sunday Junior Cup

First Round

St Panteleimon 1 Irish of London 2

St. Panteleimon arrived at this fixture the absolute underdog having drawn last years Semi-Finalists and a well established and highly regarded FC Irish. From the start of the match it became evident that St. Panteleimon could more than hold their own and after an even 20 minutes it was the ‘Saints’ that took control of the match with FC Irish resorting to the long ball! In fact it was a long ball that undone the Saints defence and saw FC Irish take the lead against the run of play.

The ‘Saints’ continued to dominate possession and were rewarded with a terrific solo effort from the outstanding Salapatas! FC Irish looked stunned and faced a barrage of offensive play from the Saints but defended admirably. A corner conceded late on by the Saints was to prove costly as a flick on at the near post was neatly headed in by The visitors. Final score 1-2 to FC Irish who looked more than pleased to hear the referee’s final whistle!
