Greek Orthodox Archbishop Elpidophoros of America speaks at the Democratic Party convention

Archbishop Elpidophoros of America concluded his speech on Wednesday night with a unifying message using the main slogan of the Democratic Party convention: “We the People”.

The Archbishop sent out a clear social message in the form of a prayer, asking God to inspire all people to fight against injustice, inequality and hatred in order to defend the common good.

The programming of the third day of the convention featured important speeches from different high-profile figures, such as Kamala Harris, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.

“Our merciful and loving God, as we gather with a clear mind and a pure heart for the sake of the nation and its future, we pray for the light of your presence to enlighten the electors of this convention and Vice President Joe Biden.

As we are here as a nation with the future before us, help us to become our best selves and inspire our best angels, with peace, justice and generosity, in order to fight injustice, inequality and hatred and to achieve a common good. A ‘greater’ good. We pray in the name of the Holy Trinity. Amen,” the Archbishop of America said.
