CEMETERY staff and residents are being put on alert to a Halloween rave in a graveyard on Monday night.
Rumours of a macabre party have been spotted on the social networking website Facebook – but the exact location has not been named. Enfield Council and police are on high alert to disrupt any gatherings.
Residents are being asked to call the council if they see or hear of any raves planned during the weekend.
Chris Bond, cabinet member for environment, said: “We’ve heard that a group of people are planning a rave in a cemetery somewhere on Halloween.
“These idiots are either too stupid or too insensitive to understand that going ahead with an illegal rave at a burial ground will be hugely offensive and upsetting to the relatives of the people buried there.
“We want all decent, law-abiding residents living near our cemeteries to keep their eyes peeled for us and let us know if they spot anything suspicious going on. We are not going to stand by and let a gang of halfwits desecrate burial grounds in Enfield and if we catch anyone trying, we’ll act quickly and then be pushing for the strongest possible sanction in the courts.”
