House damaged by fire in Upper Edmonton

A terraced house on Fairfield Road in Upper Edmonton was damaged by fire yesterday morning.

Seven people jumped from a first floor window before the arrival of the Brigade and were taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service suffering from smoke inhalation.

Watch Manager Dave Girt who was at the scene said:

“Fire crews confined the fire to the ground floor of the house, which was slightly damaged by the blaze. While the fire was contained in the porch, the house had quickly filled with thick black smoke.”

Four fire engines and 20 firefighters and officers from Edmonton and Tottenham fire stations attended the incident.

The Brigade was called at 0412 and the fire was under control at 0520.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
