To this end, the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and the Republic of Cyprus Ministry of Defence (MOD) reaffirm their commitment to collaborate to address current and projected international security concerns through the signing of a Roadmap for Bilateral Defense Cooperation Efforts. The roadmap establishes a framework to enhance response to humanitarian crises and to better understand and address key security concerns, including the national security effects of climate change, countering malign influence, and building interoperability between military forces. Ultimately, all efforts under the roadmap are directed towards promoting stability, security, and prosperity in the region. The enhanced defense cooperation between DoD and MOD represents a welcome opportunity to better prepare both nations to support mutually beneficial policy objectives in the Eastern Mediterranean.
