New Salamis 4 Anorthosis 1

The big game the top of the table clash in the first division and the Famagusta derby New Salamis v Anorthosis and what a game it was in front of a big crowd at Haringey Borough stadium.

The game started slow with both teams taking time to settle, even so there were chances created either way. But it took a penalty to break the deadlock scored by Kyri Portou who again straight after the break scored again with a penalty. But that did not stop Anorthosis who then went onto score with a tap in from Danny Coolridge.

The red’s seem to up the pace when Richard Georgiou latched onto a pass from the right to score their third and the fourth was a classic when Ahmet Rifat ran deep from his own half to pass to Kyri Portou who then laid the ball off for Harrison Georgiou to score in the final minute with a shot from the edge of the box.

This win put New Salamis at the top of the table level on points with second placed Anorthosis but the red’s have a game in hand.
