Omonia 3 Asha 0

Kopa League

Division 1
Omonia London 3 Asha 0

A well deserved and hard earned victory for Omonia London today at Enfield Grammar 3G.

Conditions were cool and wet but despite all of this there was some easy on the eye football from both teams .

It took 30 minutes before Omonia broke down an Assia defence well marshalled by Alex Charalambous -It was the first bit of slight hesitation from the Assia defence which the excellent Omonia striker Charlie Nelson seized upon and finished expertly low past the Assia keeper.

Both teams had other opportunities but as the first period ended Omonia just about deserved the lead.

The second period was predominately dominated by Omonia Charlie Nelson , Antonio Michael and Savvas Petrou had decent opportunities to increase Omonia’s lead , however on 60 minutes having just failed to take a presentable opportunity Luke Prokopiou took another 30 seconds to make amends and finish expertly going round the keeper following a nice flick on by Charlie Nelson to put Omonia 2-0 ahead.

On 78 minutes sub Chris Philippou scored the goal of the game cutting in from the left and smashed in a right foot screamer into the Assia keeper’s top left hand corner.

There was no coming back from Assia.

There were many stand out performers for Omonia today in particular Sollos Souris who plays with a maturity well above his age Luke Prokopiou with his creativity and influence on the game and Theo Kasapi who was a constant menace to his opponents today.

Omonia London team: Filip, Savvas Petrou, Nicolas Jacovides, Fodi Christodoulou, Brandon Koukitis, Antonio Michael, Sollos Souris, Theo Kasapi , Daniel Pugh, Luke Prokopiou, Charlie Nelson.

Subs Chris Philippou, Harry Philippou, Ozzie Ahmed, Aris Savva

Scorers : Charlie Nelson, Luke Prokopiou , Chris Philippou

Apoel 4 Achna 0

Achna who have yet to win a game held back Apoel for a while went 1-0 down in the 14th minute to a Marcos Kyprianou goal and kept it at that score till the 60th minute when Apoel super striker George Lutaaya scored and scored again in the
65th & 80th min George Lutaaya.

Second Division

Armenians Youth 1 Cinar 2

The rain did not dampen the quick pace from both teams, 2 challengers for Division 2, but it was Cinar who went in 1-0 up at half time from a mazy run by Erjan Hasan who took advantage of a slip by a Armenian Youth defender by firing past keeper Fez for 0-1.

Veteran striker Andy Michael equalised early on in the second half by heading a cross totally unmarked for 1-1. Both teams cancelled each other out but with 15 minutes left, a cinar corner was flicked into the path of Cullen French who made sure the ball hit the back of the net for 1-2.

It was an impressive Cinar win with a record 8 squad players missing through injury and unable to make a sub.

Akanthou 0 KLN 4

KLN are top of the table after a great 4-0 win over newcomers Akanthou who held the oldest team in our League KLN to 1-0 at half time when a cross from Phil found Rio on the edge of the box who slammed the ball into the back of the net. Akanthou kept them at bay straight into the second half but goung into the second period with only ten men after one of their players was sent off.

Straight after the break KLN were awarded a penalty which Max Papacosta converted, a third goal soon followed when from a cross Max scored his second by tapping the ball into the back of the net.

the fourth goal came in the 60th minute when KLN on the break Dylan beat a defender and cut in and hit a low shot into the left hand corner of the goal.

Right at the end the KLN keeper Ahmet pulled off some good saves right at the end keep a clean sheet for KLN.
