Police are on the lookout for an armed robber who held up a McDonald’s restaurant in the early hours of Monday morning before escaping with €30,000 in cash from the office vault.
Witnesses say a hooded man entered the popular fast food joint in Limassol at around 3am and fired a round from his pistol up into a computerised cash register in a bid to scare the employees. During the time of the robbery, employees were counting the money in the back office. After taking the money, the man got into a car where a second man was waiting and the two drove off.
Police officers have begun a manhunt for the assailants while the bullet has been removed from the touch screen cash register for forensic examinations.
Investigators say that the man got away with around €30,000.
After a stock check they found only one Big Mac was missing.
