A large fire near the village of Mosfiloti in the Larnaca area burnt around four hectares of land on Saturday afternoon.
The fire is now under control as the fire services rushed to the scene to limit the damage. Three fire engines with ten firemen and seven fire trucks from the Forestry Department with thirty men managed to calm the blaze after just thirty minutes.
The fire destroyed wild vegetation, eucalyptus and cypress trees as well as olive trees and reeds.
The authorities are now looking into the cause of the fire
