Police have confirmed that a man has died after being burnt alive inside a flaming car in the early hours of Tuesday morning in Limassol.
Limassol CID investigators have so far ruled out foul play and believe the victim is 61-year-old Demetris Charalambous who had tried to move his car that had been parked close to a furnace and had caught fire in an area between Monagrouli and Asgata.
Police believe the vehicle and Charalambous – a resident of Monagrouli who often used the furnace – had become engulfed in flames.
The call had come into police at 6.15am that a burnt body had been discovered inside a car.
An autopsy and DNA testing is expected to confirm the identity of the victim.
