As a regular runner, and 11 years after her last marathon, she finally found the will to repeat the experience, this time with fundraising in mind. Her chosen charities Diabetes UK, MS Society and Breast Cancer now are of great personal significance to her in terms of people close to her who have sadly lost battles or are currently suffering from the diseases in which research for a cure is crucial.
Maria from Southgate is the assistant head at Copthall school and is married to Karl Tuton and has two children Christos and Matheos.
Maria is the daughter of Christodoulos and Nina Stylianou from Avgorou and Paphos respectively. Christodoulos is well known in the Cypriot community as the former General Secretary of AKEL in Britain and Manager of the Cypriot Community Centre in Wood Green.
