More than 142 kilos of cocaine detected in Limassol port

One hundred forty – two packages of more than 1 kilo of cocaine each, were detected by Drug Law Enforcement Unit of Cyprus police in a custom warehouse north of Limassol port, in Zakaki region.

DLE policemen unpicked three generators and detected 71 packages of cocaine at two of them, hidden in a special metal structure inside the fuel container, so as not to be detected by checks.

Investigations are continuing in cooperation with police authorities of foreign countries in order to identify the final recipients, since the cargo that had arrived at Limassol port two months ago would be re-exported.

DLE chief said earlier on Thursday that the cargo left initially from a Latin America country and was transferred from other European ports before reaching the port of Limassol
