A great battle between two good footballing teams, left the spectators entertained and enthused.
AEK started strongly with purpose and intent, moving the ball well and stretching the Omonia back line. Their enterprising play was rewarded and after some good play from Tristan on the left wing, released Lucca who calmly slotted the ball in the bottom corner.
With Omonia rattled by an early goal, AEK continued to create chances but could not double their lead. Omonia then grew into the game and started to impose themselves playing some good football and forcing the AEK keeper Theo into making some good saves.
The second half was end to end and with both teams creating chances, AEK could not capitalise and despite their endeavour, Omonia could not find a way through the resolute AEK defence or their keeper Theo who was magnificent.
Omonia could claim they deserved a draw, but they lacked composure in front of goal and could not find a way through a resilient and organised AEK.
In the end, a solid AEK team performance merited their 1-0 victory to help maintain their strong start to the season.
