Parikiaki gets a buzz out of Sticky-fingered thief jailed for honey theft that just wasn’t to bee

Zoman Ahmed, 20 (10/11/1994), from Tower Hamlets was jailed (20 July) for four months at the City of London Magistrate Court for stealing £906.75 worth of Maunka honey in a week.

CCTV footage and witness statements pinned Ahmed to the three thefts committed at the Holland and Barrett store on Gracechurch Street between 1 June and 8 June.

The waiter was arrested on 17 June by a City of London Police officer outside the Holland and Barrett store on Cheapside after he was recognised from the same clothes he wore during the previous thefts.

On Monday 1 June, Ahmed was seen picking up six jars of Manuka honey worth £274.94 and placing it into a carrier bag. He left the store without paying for the items.

He returned to the same store on Thursday 4 June and stole £124.97 worth of Manuka Honey.

On Monday 8 June, Ahmed visited the same store for the third time and stole £506.84 worth of Manuka honey without paying for it.

Police Detective David Harrigan from the City of London Police said, “Ahmed was confident enough to visit the same store repeatedly to steal expensive honey thinking he would get away with it.

“However by wearing the same clothes on each visit, this led to his down fall and subsequent arrest.

“The City of London Police will continue to crack down on persistent shoplifters in the Square Mile. We have dedicated plain clothes officers in the area waiting to catch the next thief”
