Between 8pm on Wednesday, December 21 and 7.15am the following day, offenders entered a home in the Oakmere ward area while the victim, aged in her 90s, was in bed.

They told her they were from the police and that there had been an ‘intrusion’ before searching the property and taking cash from the woman’s purse.

Police would like to speak to the men pictured as they may have information about the distraction burglary that could prove useful to the investigation.

Anyone who recognises these men, or has any other information about the crime, is asked to contact PC Kirsty Rusbridge via the Hertfordshire Constabulary non-emergency number 101, quoting crime reference J3/16/1572.

Alternatively contact the independent crime-fighting charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or through their anonymous online form at www.crimestoppers-uk.org. No personal details are taken, information cannot be traced or recorded and you will not go to court.

Police are reminding people to not open the door to unexpected callers.

Not sure? Don’t open the door! – If you are not expecting anyone and you don’t recognise them, don’t let them into your home. Try to communicate with the caller without opening the door and ask them to return at a time when you have someone you trust with you.

If you are expecting a caller – If a person you are expecting comes at the time you have arranged, ask to see their identification before you let them in.

Never keep large amounts of cash at home. Put your money in an account where it is safe.
