T/Cypriot leaders to exert effort to finding Cyprus solution

Yorgancioglu asks from the Turkish Cypriot daily Kibris newspaper (12.02.12) reports that the chairman of the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) Ozkan Yorgancioglu has said that the solution to the Cyprus problem could be reached only with a give and take between the two communities and added that the important thing is for the leaders to exert efforts for an agreement which will be protecting the common interests of the sides. In a written statement issued on Saturday, Yorgancioglu argued that the statements of the “fanatics” in both sides are the same.

He argued that the opponents of the solution in the Greek Cypriot side attack President Christofias for the agreements he reached with the former Turkish Cypriot leader Talat accusing him of giving away the Greek Cypriot rights to the Turks. He added that the opponents of the solution in the Turkish Cypriot side accuse Talat of giving away the Turkish rights to the Greeks by accepting the same agreements.

Referring to a statement reportedly made by Archbishop Chrysostomos II that the Turkish occupation army should be completely withdrawn from Cyprus before the solution of the Cyprus problem, Yorgancioglu alleged that actually by wanting this, the Archbishop helps in making non-solution and the division of the island permanent. He claimed that the Archbishop shows an outworn mentality by demanding the withdrawal of all illegal Turkish settlers from the island and continues to spread seeds of enmity.
