Brotherhood 2 APOEL 0

Brotherhood are going great guns at the moment joint top after two wins and are getting stronger every week. Whittington Park was their stage today versus a formidable APOEL who gave them a difficult game and in the first half it looked like it was going to be a draw but then the Hood got on top and were rewarded with their first goal when Ismet banged the ball into the back of the net from a corner.

The second in the 60th minute was a well created goal when Paul Yiannakas crossed the ball from the right for Aaron Kennedy to score with his first touch.

APOEL still tried hard to get back into the game when a Michael Spencer shot was cleared off the line and Yiotis and Vincent Lwanga came close.

There was a close shave when a Brotherhood penalty taken by Aaron Kennedy was saved by the APOEL keeper Andreas Martides.

Livadia 1 Anorthosis 5

This game had some spectacular goals and two of the goals will take some beating.

Anorthosis led from the 5th minute when Alexandros scored, they increased their lead in the 20th minute when Danny Coolridge picked the ball up on the left hand side and crossed for Fabian to score. The third was a header from a corner by Alex Roussis.

Livadia made it 3-1 with a cracking goal from Elias Katsoulides a 40 yarder that dipped just under the bar. Anorthosis got their 4th when Danny Coolridge tried to better Elias goal when he received the ball on the bye line and saw that the Livadia keeper was off his line and lobbed him from 40 yards to go straight into the back of the net. The final and fifth goal came from Charlie.

Cetinkaya Cinar 1 Maronites 1

A very competitive match dominated by Cinar in the first half, but unable to make their domination count. On 36 minutes Neil Thompson produced a thunderbolt out of the blue when he struck an unstoppable volley from 30 yards to put Cinar deservedly into the lead.

The second half saw Maronites up their tempo and on 58 minutes managed to find a way through the middle for their striker Theo Vassilliou to tuck it away for the equaliser, 1-1.
Cetinkaya Cinar pressed forward for the winner and right at the end were caught on the break with Remzi pulling off a great save, and with five minutes to go Cetinkaya Cinar missed a penalty when when Cem Cemal blasted his shot over the bar.
Cinar missed chances in the first half and will rue the opportunity to take all 3 points, but Maronites had good chances in the second half and will be pleased they can put last week’s defeat behind them, nevertheless the game was played in great spirits.
KLN 2 Omonia 3
Omonia are continuing their good form from last season into their current campaign for top place in the first division but were surprised with a much improved KLN who from today’s performance they may surprise some teams.
The Greens took the lead after ten minutes with Harry Vazanias when he went past the oncoming keeper to poke the ball into an empty net.
Vas Crisikos was left on his own to score the Green’s second before KLN reduced the score to 2-1 when Michael Philippou slotted the ball home from six yards. Yiannis Varousakis made it 3-1 when he passed two players before stroking home. KLN finally reduced the score to 3-2 when Rio Bryan Edwards scored in the closing stages with a back post header.

This game was definitely full of action New Salamis took the lead in the 20th minute when Steve Velandia scored from the penalty spot. Both teams were creating chances but it took till the 85th minute for Tripimeni-Olympia to score and equalise when Ramir Rifat scored from the penalty spot.

Second Division
Division 2 2015
Arachne 0 Asha 2
Asha finally after last weeks disappointment they came away with a well deserved victory.
All the Asha players fought like heroes but found it hard to break Arachne’s stubborn defence.
Finally a minute before half time Asha were awarded a penalty which Andy Nicholas took but the goalkeeper saved it and in the commotion Andy got the return which hit the bar and finally cleared away.
The second half was equally exciting but it took until the 70th minute when substitute Antonio came on to put Asha ahead with a low drive.
On the final minute Jaydee crossed from the right to three waiting Asha players for Chris Spyrou to get off the mark and make it 2-0.
Pantel 1 Achna 4
This was probably the surprise of the day after Achna’s 7-1 drabbing last week you expect them to lose again but they lifted themselves to beat Pantel. Achna under their new manager Taso Anastasi were 3-0 up in no time with their first two goals coming from Theo the first when a Pantel defensive error left him one to one with the goalkeeper and was able to put the ball into the back of the net. The second Theo scored a great individual goal when he took on a couple of players and finished with composure. Chris Petrou scored the third after great team work from Marino and Rob. Pantel made it 3-1 when Marly Martin scored from the penalty spot.
Achna finished the game 4-1 when A Pantel defensive allowed Nick to sneak in and score.
St Pantelemon 2 Komi Kebir 3
This was a cracking tense game the Saints were really tested today at the Hive and both teams were really buzzing its a shame Melissa a regular visitor to the Hive wasn’t there to witness this game.
It was a very hard fought game which saw Komi Kebir come out on top in a five goal thriller. Jason Lambri opened the scoring heading Vas Nicou’s through ball over the advancing keeper. The equaliser came from the spot from Nikos Salapatas. St Panteleimon then took the lead when a fine cross was headed in at the far post by Costas Minas.
Komi were still battling and their 18 year old debutant Alex Theodorou came off the bench to hit a sweet equaliser across the keeper and with ten minutes to go Jason Lambri was put through on goal by Chris Andrea and finished in style with his second goal of the game.
