Villiers supports ‘Vision of Cyprus’ exhibition

British MP Theresa Villiers has described the ‘Vision of Cyprus’ photographic exhibition by Doros Partasides, which was presented at the Houses of Parliament, as a reminder of the importance of supporting efforts for a just settlement on the island.

The Conservative MP (and member of the Cabinet as Northern Ireland Secretary), along with many of her colleagues from all the major parties, attended the opening of the exhibition by Minister for Europe David Lidington.

Theresa Villiers praised the artist’s “long and distinguished record of photographing Cyprus” adding that this was his best exhibition yet. “It captures the outstanding scenic beauty of the island of Cyprus,” said the North London MP.
“As talks between the two sides in Cyprus get underway again, it is important that MPs have this exhibition to remind them of the crucial importance of supporting Cypriots in their efforts to find a just, lasting and balance settlement in Cyprus,” she said.

“The unjust division of Cyprus has continued for far too long and many of the friends of Cyprus turned out to support Doros` exhibition today. The Minister for Europe once more expressed the support of the UK government for the efforts being made in Cyprus to reach a settlement,” said Theresa Villiers.

The exhibition was sponsored by another North London Conservative MP, Matthew Offord, head of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Cyprus.
Prime Minister David Cameron sent a message of support which was read out to the guests at the exhibition opening
