George Panayi

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Father, Bapou and great-grandfather George Panayi, on 28th September 2022, at the age of 97, who joined his beloved wife Dora that passed away two years ago. He came to London in 1945 where he started his tailoring business in Greek Street. He met Dora and they married in 1948. Soon after they “moved to the country” – Colindale! – and spent 65 years happily raising their family there. George was a popular figure in Colindale, especially once he finished his tailoring and always stopped to pass the time with his neighbours when out for his regular walks. His greatest joy though was being surrounded by his large family. George leaves behind children: Fedos and Mary, grandchildren: Damian, Sophie, Carmen, Daniel, Nicola, great-grandchildren: Jack, Rae, Solène, Sevrin, Poppy, Tallulah, Leo, Finlay, Lucy, Artemis. All of whom loved him very much. His funeral will be held at the Holy Cross St Michael’s in Golders Green, on Monday 17th October, at 12:00pm, followed afterwards by a burial at Hendon cemetery and then a celebration of his life at Mill Hill Golf Club, 100 Barnet Way, London NW7 3AJ.

Με μεγάλη θλίψη ανακοινώνουμε τον θάνατο του αγαπημένου μας πατέρα, παππού και προπάππου Γιώργου Παναγή στις 28 Σεπτεμβρίου 2022, σε ηλικία 97 ετών. Ο Γιώργος ξανά ανταμώνει με την αγαπημένη του σύζυγο, η οποία απεβίωσε πριν δυο χρόνια. Ήρθε στο Λονδίνο το 1945, όπου ξεκίνησε την δική του επιχείρηση ραπτικής στο Greek Street. Γνώρισε και παντρεύτηκε την αγαπημένη του Δώρα το 1948. Λίγο αργότερα “μετακόμισαν στην ύπαιθρο” – στο Colindale! – και έζησαν για 65 χρόνια, ευτυχισμένοι μεγαλώνοντας την οικογένειά τους. Ο Γιώργος ήταν γνωστός στο Colindale για την ευγένεια και την καλοσύνη του. Του άρεσε πολύ κάθε φορά που τελείωνε την δουλεία του να πηγαίνει για περπάτημα στην γειτονιά και να μιλάει με τους γείτονες του. Όμως η μεγαλύτερη χαρά του ήταν να βρίσκεται περιτριγυρισμένος από την οικογένειά του. Αφήνει τα παιδιά του: Fedos και Mary, εγγόνια: Damian, Sophie, Carmen, Daniel και Nicola, δισέγγονά: Jack, Rae, Solène, Sevrin, Poppy, Tallulah, Leo, Finlay, Lucy, και Artemis και όλοι όσοι τον αγαπήσαν πολύ. Η κηδεία του θα τελεσθεί τη Δευτέρα 17 Οκτωβρίου 2022, από τον Ιερό Ναό Τιμίου Σταυρού και Αρχαγγέλου Μιχαήλ, Golders Green, στις 12:00μμ. Θα ακολουθήσει η ταφή στο Hendon Cemetery και η παρηγοριά στο Mill Hill Golf Club, 100 Barnet Way, London NW7 3AJ.
