It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother,
grandmother and great grandmother Julia Sofroniou on Monday 6th January, aged 103.
She leaves behind Daughter Sophie & husband Michael, son Savvas & wife Despo, grandchildren Christos & wife Maria, Costas & wife Arlene,
Julian & wife Jade, Marianna, Christopher & wife Camille, great grandchildren Sophia, Thomas, Josh, Gabriel, Alana, Lianos, Elliot and Elisa.
Beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother your passing leaves us all so profoundly sad.
Your towering strength and selfless sacrifice has shaped our lives forever, giving us the opportunity to live, prosper and to make a home in this country.
Arriving here as a single mother of two young children, your family has grown with five loving grandchildren and eight great grandchildren,
an achievement you should always be proud of.
Your love for your family, your love for life, for the countless people you so lovingly helped, the kindness you showed to strangers, the refugees you shared
your home with in 1974, these are the countless acts of compassion that will fill our hearts and memories with love and pride forever.
You were our mother, our grandmother and great grandmother, but you were and will always be so much more. We thank you, we miss you, we will
remember you and we will always love you.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday 4th February, at Greek Orthodox Community of St Anthony the Great and St John the Baptist, 1 Sussex Way, London N7 6RT at 10:30am.
The burial will follow at GreenAcres Kemnal Park, Sidcup By-Pass, Chislehurst BR7 6RR, from 12:45.
The wake will be held at Sidcup and Footscray United Services Club, 108 Main Road, DA14 6NE, from 2pm.
