Reiss Yiasemi is thirteen, lives in Cockfosters and attends East Barnet School and he decided to put his dancing skills to good use and raise money for ChickenShed who are based in Southgate, Kensington and Chelsea.
Reiss says “I am doing a Danceathon for Chickenshed because I want to keep Chickenshed open I love to sing dance and act that’s why it’s so lovely for me and other children to go to and it’ll be sad if they close it
In 2019, Chickenshed provided support, education, mentoring and a place to belong to over 1,000 children and young people. For many, Chickenshed is their second home. Over 60% of the children and young people we reach have experienced isolation and exclusion due to mental or physical ill-health, disability, bullying, gang pressure, being in the care system or being a young carer themselves – often a combination of these things.
These factors result in exclusion from mainstream schools, colleges, universities and social activities, adding to their personal feelings of neglect. At Chickenshed we help them to feel accepted, nurtured and valued, empowering them to achieve more than they ever thought possible.
We give them opportunities where they would otherwise fall through the cracks. Chickenshed needs to be able to continue its vital work in order to provide a lifeline to all of these children and young people – and the thousands of other children and young people throughout London
It is truly wonderful to see children and young adults who have a range of physical and mental challenges working alongside a group of driven and talented kids creating productions of the highest standard….The benefits to all of them is enormous …enhancing their confidence and self esteem, encouraging inclusion and building relationships…..Chicken Shed are sadly facing huge financial difficulties and it would be heart breaking for the company to need to wind up having provided so much life changing positivity, hope and encouragement….I know we are all going through challenging times right now and if possible I would be SO grateful if you could make a donation so that Chicken Shed can continue the truly meaningful work they do..
