Wood Green schoolboy stabbed in barber’s chair:

A 15-year-old schoolboy suffered multiple stab wounds after being attacked whilst having his hair cut in Wood Green on Tuesday.

The victim was stabbed as he sat in the barber’s chair in Kenny’s hair salon, in Lordship Lane near the junction with Acacia Road.

A trader from a nearby shop, who did not wish to be named, told the Journal the boy was seen “bleeding in the chair quietly” after the incident at around 2pm.

He added: “He was enduring the pain, that’s what it looked like from his facial expression. I see police in this area all the time so I’m not surprised.”

Soon after the attack, an air ambulance took the boy to an east London hospital where his condition was described as “non-life-threatening”. Police have since arrested and charged six teenagers over the stabbing.

Allan Lewis, owner of Tuck & Norris hardware store, close to the barbers, said: “I think it’s sad that kids nowadays don’t quite understand what life is all about.

“I think it’s such a shame, it’s [the attackers’] families that will suffer and the victim’s family will suffer. They should think of that.”

Jordan Townsend, 18, of The Avenue, Tottenham, and Jerome Amankwah, 19, of Rochford block in the Broadwater Farm Estate, Griffin Road, Tottenham, have been charged with grievous bodily harm, as have three 17-year-olds and a 16-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons.

Amankwah was also charged with possession of a firearm and cannabis. Townsend and one of the 17-year-olds were also charged with possession of an offensive weapon, and another of the 17-year-olds was also charged with possession of cannabis. They were all due to appear in custody at Haringey Magistrates Court today (Thursday).

* Amankwah is also due before magistrates next Thursday, as the first person to be charged with the specific offence of rioting during the Tottenham Riots last August. Officers from Operation Withern, the Metropolitan Police’s specialist team sifting through CCTV evidence of the unrest, charged Amankwah on January 31 with rioting in the High Road, Tottenham, on August 6.
