The Minister of Foreign Affairs, it said, began his round of contacts with a meeting held in the morning at the headquarters of the United Nations, with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao People’s Republic, Saleumxay Kommasith. The discussion focused on Cyprus-Laos bilateral relations, as well as the country’s relations with the European Union, it added.

The strengthening of Cyprus-Senegalese bilateral relations, as well as the country’s relations with the EU, were the focus of Kombos’ meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Senegal, Yassine Fall.

It was followed, it said, by a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Algeria, Ahmed Attaf, where bilateral relations, regional developments, and Algeria’s relations with the EU were discussed.

During a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cape Verde, Dr Rui Alberto de Figueiredo Soares “an exchange of views on a number of issues of common interest, such as climate change and tourism” took place.

Kombos then met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Dr Denzil L. Douglas, with whom he exchanged views regarding the strengthening of cooperation, both at bilateral level and in the context of international organisations, especially the Commonwealth and the United Nations, it said.

According to the statement, Kombos’ round of bilateral contacts was completed yesterday with a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Alzayani, the focus of which was the further strengthening of bilateral relations and regional developments.

On Sunday evening, Kombos attended the briefing of the heads of the Cypriot-American Organisations by Cyprus President, Nikos Christodoulides, as well as the event organised by the Federation of Cypriot American Organisations, in which the President of the Republic was the main speaker.

On Saturday, Kombos was keynote speaker in a side-event organised by the International Digital Cooperation Organisation, which is based in Saudi Arabia, on fostering global digital cooperation for prosperity.
