Could you run faster than a speeding bullet; move mountains or even see the tiniest speck travelling from earth to space?
Of course not, because unlike the fictional super heroes in a new show at Enfield Council’s Millfield Theatre, volunteers in Enfield are real life heroes and they form a mighty battalion with the power to change lives.
Superman, Captain America, Green Arrow , Flash, Black Widow, Supergirl and Wonder Woman from the cast of ‘Snow White and the Seven Super Heroes’ are welcoming some real life Enfield Heroes to encourage more volunteering in the borough and to promote the show which runs until 17 January.
Cllr Yasemin Brett, Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Organisations & Culture, said: “An estimated 100,000 heroes already give up their free time to help others. Every day volunteers are doing something that makes a difference.
“It can be helping in a charity shop; coaching young people at a sports club; hearing young children read; visiting an older person; offering help at a food bank; becoming a friend of the libraries and parks; sharing an interest to inspire others.
“We have a great volunteering tradition in Enfield and want even more people to give their free time to really transform the lives of people in genuine need of help and assistance. Volunteering also helps people to develop and improve their own job prospects and can be enjoyed because it is so worthwhile.”
