Cyprus and Israel to hold fresh talks on Aphrodite-Ishai gas reservoir

Cyprus and Israel are set to hold a new round of talks during the week beginning 12 October, seeking an agreement on the natural gas reservoir shared by the Aphrodite and Ishai fields, according to the Cyprus News Agency.

The discussions will take place online and involve technical officials from both countries, their legal advisers and the operators of the two fields.

The issue concerns the reservoir beneath Cyprus’ offshore Aphrodite field, which extends into the Ishai field within Israel’s exclusive economic zone.

Aphrodite lies in Block 12 of Cyprus’ exclusive economic zone and is operated by US energy company Chevron.
