Greece remain unbeaten in the Nations League after the Netherlands fought back from two goals down to secure a 2–2 draw in Thessaloniki on Thursday.
First-half goals from Fotis Ioannidis and Giorgos Masouras put Greece in control, but Virgil van Dijk and Tijjani Reijnders struck after the break to earn the visitors a point.
Greece also suffered an injury setback when Arsenal winger Christos Tzolis was forced off in the 18th minute. He pulled up during an attacking move and, despite initially trying to continue, was replaced by Masouras.
Ioannidis opened the scoring with a composed finish before providing the assist for Masouras to double Greece’s advantage.
Netherlands coach Xavi Hernández made three substitutions at half-time, helping his side turn the game around. Van Dijk reduced the deficit with a header before Reijnders fired home a late equaliser.
The result keeps Greece top of Group A2, with seven points from three matches. The Netherlands remain second on five points, with both sides yet to lose.
